GHOSTS OF CASSIOPEIAE


The bright bluish star is Gamma Cassiopeiae. It is currently evaporating two nearby clouds of gas, IC 59 and IC 63. The leading edges of these clouds glow strongly in the intense bath of radiation from this hot star.
The clouds are also known as "The Ghosts of Cassiopeia" !

TS 80mm f6 APO triplet refractor - Canon 40D + IDAS LPS2 (light pollution) filter - Total exposure: 4hours 18minutes.
