13 April 2016, the sunspot AR 2529 has recently appeared and is turning toward the Earth. Sunspot AR 2530 can be seen lower right. Sunspots are concentrations of reduced surface temperature, indicating intense magnetic activity.

13 April 2016, sunspot AR 2529 showing the dark area of reduced temperature. The Earth could fit 3 times in this black region!

19 April 2016, AR 2529 has nearly disapeared (right). The new sunspot AR 2533 has appeared and is smaller than AR 2529.
